Ames Plate Incorporation Assay Kits
The Ames plate incorporation assay is a widely used method to determine whether a chemical or substance can induce DNA mutations. The assay uses specially designed Salmonella typhimurium strain for detection of different types of DNA mutations, plated minimal media, top agar, S9 and an NADP regenerating system. The assay plates are incubated for 48 hours and the data collected via colony count. Colony counts on plates containing Salmonella exposed to the test substance are compared to the colony count on plates containing no test substrate.
